Learn about a non-profit effort underway to build media-rich, adaptable open educational resources to support mathematics instruction. Funded by The Hewlett Foundation and The Gates Foundation, this project integrates a portfolio of learning approaches designed to open the door to mathematics for a broad range of learners. Join us for an active discussion on new methods and curriculum models that offer a 21st century approach to achieving mathematics literacy.

Created with a $1.2 million grant that is aligned to the common core
Offer a multimodal approach to Algebra 1 - All built in Flash so Ipads will not run the course
Built in Moodle(may have Blackboard and Angel installs later) and is SCORM compliant
12 units, 26 lessons, 68 topics

Within each topic the subtopics can be taken in any order that the student chooses

Conduct interviews with administrators, questionnaires for faculty and students
It is currently being used by one school in Michigan with a control group using traditional
Alternative education site with mostly credit recovery
Positive results thus far - students scoring average of 70's and 80's with lowest score of 61 on common district assessment - control group >50% are failing

No, but professional development will address use of graphing calculators at a later date.

Question: Other languages? The course is being translated into Spanish.
Question: Is there a midterm and final? Yes. It is being developed now.
